Thank you for purchasing Rebelle 6 Software or Volume Licenses for yourself or your school!
Escape Motions offers two types of licenses for schools and individuals that are in school or teach: Standalone and Floating. Choosing the most appropriate license type depends on the computers, accounts, and network setup of each particular school.
** Note: If you purchased a single Rebelle 6 license key, you will need to follow the instruction for the Standalone installation.
Standalone: Rebelle license is tied to a single Windows or macOS account on a single computer and is not transferable to other computers. Choose this type of license:
- When you have some amount of Rebelle licenses, and you need to run Rebelle on the same amount of computers (or less), and each computer runs Rebelle under a single local Windows or macOS account.
- Floating: Rebelle license can be assigned to any Windows or macOS account on any computer on your local network. When Rebelle is closed, its license slot is freed and made available to any other computer on your local network that asks for it. Choose this type of license:
- When you need to run Rebelle on more computers than you have Rebelle licenses and/or there are multiple Windows accounts that run Rebelle on your computers
If you are not sure which license type is more suitable for your school, please visit the FAQ on Escape Motions website or send an email directly to support@escapemotions.com
You will need to create an account on the Escape Motions website to be able to start the Rebelle software download.
** There is a section at the bottom for Troubleshooting.

|
Floating License Setup You will need to install Rebelle and the Floating License Server (FLS).
Floating License Server Installation FLS needs to be installed on any computer on your local network connected to the internet (e.g. on the teacher's computer or on your school server). FLS provides licenses for Rebelle. [1] Use the links to the right to download and install the Floating License Server for your network operating system type. | Download and install our "Escape Motions Floating License Server" application from here: MacOS: https://escapemotions.com/products/rebelle/download/tmp/floatlicserver/Escape_Motions_Floating_License_Server_64bit_v1.0.7_MacOS.dmg |
[3] When you run FLS on Windows, the system asks you for permission to access FLS from local networks. Please, allow access for both, private and public networks.
[4] The FLS application has to be running to allow Rebelle instances to run on your local network. There can be only a single instance of FLS running for each Escape Motions account. You can run the server application at the beginning of each lesson and then close it, or you can keep it running.
[5] For Windows users only: If you want to run FLS at the system's startup as a Windows service, check the box at the top of the FLS window:
{6] Then close the FLS application, open Windows services:
[7] Double-click on the "Escape Motions Floating License Server" service and click on the "Start" button. If you get an error message, please see the Troubleshooting section below.
Rebelle Installation
When a student runs Rebelle, it looks for the FLS on your local network. When the FLS is found, Rebelle asks it for a In case your FLS is on a different network or there is a problem with an automatic UDP service discovery, you can specify the FLS IP address as a command line argument when running Rebelle: "C:\Program Files\Rebelle 6\Rebelle 6.exe" -floating-license-server 1.2.3.4:8264 You can also put those command line arguments into a text file "Rebelle 6.args" (located in the same folder as "Rebelle 6.exe" on Windows or "Rebelle 6.app" on macOS) with the following content: -floating-license-server 1.2.3.4:8264 In this case, Rebelle will always try to connect to the given FLS IP address, even when it is ran from the windows start menu. In the example above, 1.2.3.4 is the FLS IP address and 8264 is the default FLS port number.
Troubleshooting | |
Rebelle can't find the Floating License Server on your network even though it is running The Floating License Server listens on UDP port 9426 and TCP port 8264, so make sure your network and firewall allows communication on these ports. Kindly ask your network admin to check it for you.
On the Windows computer where you run FLS, open the Windows Defender Firewall:
Click on "Advanced settings":
You should see these two lines in the "Inbound rules" list:
The same screenshot split for better readability
An error message pops up when starting the FLS as a windows service:
Please, open the Windows "Event Viewer"
Then, in the Event Viewer window, go to "Windows Logs" -> "Application". You should see several records from the "Escape Motions Floating License Server" source which should be spread over just a few seconds. You need to switch to the "Details" tab (not "General") in the lower panel to see messages. Please, read through a few latest ones and you should see some clues there. You can send us those log messages to support@escapemotions.com |
