By default Excel, Word, and PowerPoint in Microsoft 365 have the pen is set in draw mode when the operating system sees a pen-enabled tablet is connected. You can change this default to stylus (select) mode, but you have to do it for each application separately.
In the File menu for the application, select Options. Select the Advanced Tab. Scroll to the Pen heading, and select the checkbox to "Use pen to select and interact with content by default."
In this example, Microsoft Excel is being used. The selections are the same for Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 1. Select File 2. Select Other > Options *You might have Other as an option. If that is the case, select Options | |
1. Select Advance 2. Scroll down to Pen, and check the box for "Use pen to select and interact with content by default." |
